Hidden hotspots for super sanitation

After the recent government roadmap announcement, the country has now collectively begun to look at life after lockdown. What will this mean when we return to the office, school or workplace? How can we maintain strict sanitising procedures?

Government guidance currently states that ‘As a minimum, frequently touched surfaces should be wiped down twice a day, and one of these should be at the beginning or the end of the working day. Cleaning should be more frequent depending on the number of people using the space, whether they are entering and exiting the setting and access to handwashing and hand-sanitising facilities. Cleaning of frequently touched surfaces is particularly important in bathrooms and communal kitchens.’

You can see the full government advised procedures for non-healthcare settings here.

In our previous blog we discussed how to keep your office secure and safe for all team members which you can check out right here.

But are you aware of some of the hidden hotspots you may miss on your cleaning plans?

Keypads: Especially if used at an entry and exit point, these can be used multiple times throughout the day so it’s vitally important to issue a sanitation point in this location and encourage your team members to wipe it down after every use.

Phones: Grabbing the telephone to make a call or to answer when it rings is an automatic response, but have you stopped to think who else has used it also? A key spot to remember.

Touchscreens: Tablets, screens, phones – touchscreen devices are used all around the workplace and efficiency wise are hugely effective however easy to miss when sanitising too.

Door handles: Hand sanitiser and cleaning spray should help when entering and leaving a room or building so keep these handy for all staff.

Bannisters: Touching the bannisters to steady yourself as you walk up and downstairs is second nature, but when everyone is doing so it’s another easily missed but crucial part of cleaning procedures in the workplace.

Photocopiers and printers: Similar to the touchscreens , these are a regularly used device particularly in offices. Pop a sign up next to the printer to remind your team to wipe it down before and after they’ve used it.
